The 32-year-old man accused of murdering Amanda Brown appeared in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing and was denied bond.

Sonny Delong is charged with Criminal Homicide and First Degree Arson.

Brown, of Omaha, was found near railroad tracks at 14th and Mason around 11:30 p.m. May 6, after firefighters were called to a wooded area nearby to put out a brush fire.

"There's a man off the streets that killed my best friend, my sister," said Lila Nelson, Brown's friend of fifteen years, who lived at Siena Francis House with Brown.

Last Wednesday, Nelson told WOWT 6 News that she suspected Delong killed Brown. Nelson said Delong was the last person seen with Brown, and they had been in a volatile relationship.

"I wanted him in custody because I want him to face what he did, I want him to live with what he did--she deserves that justice," said Nelson, through tears.

Police say the area Brown was found is commonly used as an encampment for transients.
