A heartland man faces sentencing in October in an assault case. Shane Perrigo has entered a guilty plea to Third-Degree Assault in a plea deal that took the felony First-Degree charge off the table.
Perrigo has posted bail.
On March 17, Joshua Thomas was severely beaten at a party. He was repeatedly kicked and punched in the head. Perrigo was initially ticketed for a misdemeanor assault, but after Thomas' mother raised her voice, the suspect found himself facing the felony.
When Perrigo was ordered to stand trial, Melissa and Steve Thomas left court saying they felt a sense of relief and justice. "There are no words to express what my son went through physically and emotionally and still going through," said Melissa.
Among other injuries, Joshua Thomas suffered 15 fractures to his face.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 25.
