Omaha has been selected as one of the cities to participate in the Play Streets initiative. The idea is to close off certain roads during the summer and give kids a place to play instead.
There will be four Play Streets events in the summer of 2013. The events will take place in North Omaha, South Omaha, Midtown, and Downtown.
The events will feature kid-friendly activities such as a bounce house, bike safety training, clinics from college athletes, and more.
City officials hope the initiative will help to combat childhood obesity and bring neighbors together.
