Trick-or-treaters will take over neighborhoods across the metro Wednesday evening. But the American Red Cross warns parents to make sure to take some basic safety measures.
Costume safety, said Tina Labellarte, Chief Executive Officer of the Nebraska/SW Iowa Region, said costume safety should be the first priority. She recommends:
Labellarte said before heading out on Halloween, parents and children should take time to plan their route. Make sure adults know where children are going, if they're older. And if they're younger, they should be accompanied by a parent or another responsible adult.
