Planning Board Approves Zoning For New Public Works Facility In Papillion

The plans are in the works for a new multi million dollar Public Works Facility in Papillion. The Papillion planning board approved the zoning and location on Wednesday and now the proposal goes to the city council.

The building would be located at 96th & Portal Road in Papillion.

At this point, there is no set time line as to when it will be complete. The project is currently in the design phase.

"It's way past due to get this done," said city spokesperson Darren Carlson.

Carlson says the current facility was built in the 1940's and the growing city has outgrown the building.

The new facility would have a main building, which would combine major administrative, storage and maintenance functions; along with storage areas for vehicles and city materials.
