Engine problems forced a San Francisco-bound United Airlines jet to land in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon.
The Boeing 757 flight crew shut down one of its two engines before landing safely around 1:10 p.m. United Flight 297 was carrying 168 people from Boston.
"The pilot came on, said we had lost an engine and we would have to make an emergency landing," said passenger Bruce Claflin. “People were self-contained, but nervous."
Passengers spent much of the afternoon awaiting for another plane, which left Lincoln around 7:40 p.m.
