It could a few more days before a number of phone lines on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus are repaired.

Construction workers hit a Windstream cable on P Street Monday afternoon, which cut the connection to parts of the campus, including blue-light emergency phones and elevator call buttons. UNL has been using Twitter, its website and signs to keep students notified. UNL said some students are even having trouble finding out if they're graduating because they can't call that office.

"Safety is our first concern here and we want to be sure that everyone understands the situation and knows how to communicate with authorities if necessary," said UNL spokesman Steve Smith.
