Finding out who's in jail and why in Scott County is easier now that the sheriff has launched a new smartphone app.
One can even see the mug shots of the recently incarcerated and find out more about their charges and other information.
Sheriff Dennis Conard says in a statement the "MobilePatrol" app will help his office communicate more effectively with the community. It's a free download for iPhones and Android devices.
Users have access to real-time jail information. It's also linked to a statewide system that notifies crime victims when an offender is released or moved. The app also includes news, facility locations, a sheriff's office directory, and a link to the sheriff's Facebook page.
Users also can submit crime tips, traffic concerns, nuisance complaints, and bullying incidents.
