UPDATE: The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge was shut down for a second time in 12 hours Wednesday as another man threatened to jump into the Missouri River.
Rescue boats hit the water as police negotiated with that man on the bridge Sunday night. He stepped back from the ledge safely Wednesday night and the bridge was reopened to foot traffic.
The 27-year-old's father called 911, saying his son planned to kill himself by jumping off the bridge.
After more than two hours, police were able to talk him into coming back over the railing and he was taken to a Council Bluffs hospital for a psychological evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.
