It's becoming more common among children these days; allergies with peanuts. And as a result many school districts are being more careful.
The Blair Community School District has been proactive for several years. It’s a policy that asks parents to avoid peanut products in sack lunches. Superintendent Rex Pfeil file says it's not a requirement and they don't like to isolate students.
Instead they have plans in place at each school and hope that others are mindful of the allergy.
“We have seen more students with it so that's why we take a very proactive stance; we want to make sure those students are safe. And they have a place where they can be away from those things and enjoy school,” said Pfeil.
Part of the plan includes a "peanut-free table" at each lunch session. That is something that teachers help monitor.
