We told you about a new effort to fight crime and promote goodwill in our city last week and now we’re seeing it in action.
Neighbors gathered at 42nd and Redman Tuesday for a prayer walk and peace rally.
But before that gathering, members of the group walked the neighborhood taking the campaign door-to-door, asking people to participate.
This is all about learning the needs of the area, ending the ongoing violence, encouraging positive alternatives and bringing jobs into the community.
Rally participant Juana Engle said, “We need peace in our community right now. We need to bring each other support for futures, you know. Peace and hope and harmony together."
The event was hosted and put on by Omaha 360 in collaboration and the Empowerment Network. Omaha police were also there.
A police officer was recently injured in a stabbing incident just a block from the site of the rally.
