One person is dead after a truck and car collided early Monday morning in Lincoln.

Police were called to 56th and Van Dorn at 7:42 a.m. Officer Katie Flood says a gold 2000 Nissan Maxima was southbound on S. 56th Street, preparing to turn left onto Van Dorn. Northbound traffic, in the inside lane, stopped leaving a gap for the Nissan to pass through.

Mid-turn, the passenger side of the Nissan was struck by a blue 2005 Ford Ranger truck, in the outside lane.

All three occupants of the Nissan Maxima and the driver of the Ford Ranger were transported to a local hospital. The front seat passenger of the Nissan was later pronounced deceased. Others involved had non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time.

The accident is still under investigation. An autopsy has been ordered by the County Attorney’s Office. No citations have been issued.

An accident re-construction team has cleared the scene and traffic has been restored through the intersection.
