With the Missouri River flood fresh in our minds, the Papio NRD is out to remind us that it has flood control prevention on its mind as well. The Papio NRD is in charge of protecting lives, property & the future along major watersheds in Nebraska.
On the Channel 6 News Midday Monday, John Winkler with the Papio NRD talked about several projects that are now underway.
Among them is the Pigeon/Jones Project. It will provide flood control, erosion, and sediment control in Dakota County. It will feature a 226 acre lake with a 595 acre recreational area around it. Dakota County is in the northeastern corner of the state.
