Dianna Hite saw a need for a support group 16 years ago. Today, PALS, which stands for "Pretty Awesome Lady Survivors" is still going strong.

Their journeys are all different, but breast cancer brings them all together.

Jeri Tinsley, a PALS member says, "We're not just about fun, we want to make a difference. We never would have met had it not been for this."

Dianna Hite says there are times the women desperately need each other to get through the tough times.

Hite says, "Over the years, about 12 of our members passed away because of breast cancer."

PALS says it was like losing a member of their own family.

Lori Clements, a PALS member says, "As you lose them, you realize how important it is to keep raising the funds so that one day we have a cure."

One way the group raises money is by selling bras. The survivors decorate the bras themselves. They hang them up at Relay for Life events.

Hite says, "It was just supposed to be our decoration for that event until people came up and said, 'I want that bra. How much do you want for it?"

The women began selling them for $5. To this day, they've sold more than 2,200!

The bras are donated from Gordmans and Walmart. The women decorate them--and have a little fun naming them at a party.

Some of those names--"Gentleman start your engines." and "Betty's Boops."

The bras aren't the only ways these women help. They also volunteer their services for mammograms...and raise money in other ways, too.

Dianna says, "In 16 years now, we have just raised a little over $103,000-and a lot of it went to the American Cancer Society."

PALS works with the Estabrook Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital.
