Christmas came early for over 65 kids in Sarpy County who participated in the “Shop with the Sheriff” event at Walmart in Gretna on Thursday.
The program is designed to help kids in need. The kids were paired up with a sheriff's deputy and got to pick out their favorite toys and even some clothes. Their family also received food for Christmas. You could see a huge smile on the kids faces as they received their gifts, free of charge.
Russ Zeeb with the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office says it’s all thanks to Walmart and donations from the community that they are able to do this. It’s the third year they’ve done the program in Sarpy County.
