Operation School Bell is kicking off at the JC Penny Store at the Westroads Shopping Center.
The philanthropic program helps provide new school clothing, shoes, and a winter coat for children in need.
3,722 children from 194 schools, 10 districts, and kindergarten through 8th grade are being scheduled for this year’s clothing event.
Children are identified to receive clothing based on school poverty rates and its population from Nebraska Department of Education.
The program is being put on by the Assistance League of Omaha. They provide volunteers that will work as school liaisons, computer schedulers, registrars, check-in/out staff, and shopping assistants with the support of the JCP Management and Staff.
The program runs through October 21st.
Last year, Operation School Bell provided clothing to 3,300 children.
