Patients at the Douglas County Health Center received some Christmas cheer Friday from volunteers with the Army Corps of Engineers via Operation Santa.
Singing Christmas songs, seeing Santa Claus and Morely, a dog pretending to be a reindeer, is an annual event residents look forward to.
“I walked in, I just had my outside shoes on and a coat and I had my costume kind of sticking out and one of them said, are you an elf, are you a professional elf?” said Cheri Halda with the Army Corps of Engineers. “The people here seem to really appreciate what we're trying to do and we get compliments all the time."
Each resident got a gift. Operation Santa has been around since 1960.
