There was a tragedy at Elmwood Park on Thursday evening. Don't worry however -- it was just Julius Caesar.
More than a thousand people brought their chairs, blankets and picnic baskets for opening night of Shakespeare on the Green.
The summer tradition is in its 26th year. Many people commented on the beautiful weather.
Casca from Julius Caesar said on the outdoor stage: "I can as well be hanged as tell the manner of it. It was mere foolery. I did not mark it. I saw Mark Antony offer him a crown -- yet 'twas not a crown neither, 'twas one of these coronets."
Julius Caesar runs through June 24 and July 6 and 8.
Next Thursday begins Comedy of Errors runs June 28-30 and July 1, 5 and 7.
The shows are free and begin at 8pm at Elmwood Park near the UNO campus along University Drive South.
Activities begin at 6pm with live music, concessions and souvenirs.
