Lincoln police rushed to the scene of a burglary in progress about 11:40am Wednesday. They were able to identify the suspects’ truck. When they stopped the truck at 30th & Q Street, the driver ran from the scene. Jason Palmateer, 29, was arrested a short distance away.
While police were chasing after him, the other man in the truck slid over to the driver’s side and drove off. Police initiated a pursuit, which ended up going the wrong way on 27th Street.
The pursuit reached speeds over 65 MPH. Police ended the pursuit because the man was driving recklessly in the wrong direction and traffic was heavy. Officers located the truck about a half hour later at 8th & H Street, but the driver was no where to be found.
Police know who the man is. They say it is just a matter of time until they find him.
Palmateer was booked for driving with a suspended license and negligent driving. At this point, possible charges related to the burglary are still pending. Police credit an observant neighbor for reporting the men trying to pry open a window. The homeowner, who says he knows the suspects, later confirmed the men never made entry. The suspects were never given permission to enter the home.
