Authorities briefly locked down five schools in Lincoln Thursday after a shooting at a nearby apartment.
Police say a man with a gun and another with a baseball bat kicked in the door of the apartment near South 18th and Garfield streets just before 11:30 a.m. and demanded money. When the victims refused to pay, police say one of the suspects opened fire.
A man was wounded in the stomach and is expected to survive. Two children were in the apartment at the time.
The suspects ran from the apartment and got into a waiting car. Police say the shooting was not random. They believe the suspects and the victims know each other.
The lockdowns ended early Thursday afternoon.
