The Waterloo, Nebraska man who died in a house fire Saturday morning has been identified as 35-year-old Daniel Reeg. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
A neighbor saw flames and smoke coming from the residence at Jefferson and 3rd streets around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. When firefighters arrived, they kicked in the front door and put out what was smoldering because the fire had run out of oxygen in the small structure.
Reeg's body was found sitting on a couch in the living room. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
“It's so quiet and when something big like this occurs, you know everybody really knows about it and there's people driving around all over the place just trying to figure out what's going on because it's a pretty tight-knit community,” said neighbor Jared Bohnenkamp.
