Update: A driver is expected to recover after being thrown from his vehicle in a Monday morning crash in Omaha.
24-year-old Arturo Cuevas was heading west on Center Street in his 2007 Hyundia sedan around 2 a.m. Monday when he left the roadway near 52nd street. Police tell WOWT he struck two trees and was ejected. They do not believe Cuevas was wearing a seatbelt.
Medics took Cuevas to the Nebraska Medical Center for fractures to his spine, ribs and leg. He also suffered internal bleeding. Police describe his injuries as serious, but non-life-threatening.
Cuevas was the only person inside the car. Center Street was closed for about two hours from 50th to 52nd Street as police worked the scene. It has since re-opened.
