Cass County fair going strong as it enters the weekend.
“The overall crowd Wednesday night was about as good as we’ve had for a Wednesday,” Cass County Fair Manager Steve Wehrbein told the Cassgram.
The queen contest and figure 8 racing that night drew a lot of spectators and Wehrbein says the racing drew more people than last year when it was on Saturday night. The rain held off until after both events were done.
There were a lot of calls yesterday afternoon about the status of the tractor pull last night but it went off as planned. There was “big pond” on the pull track yesterday afternoon but workers got the track in shape in time for the pull, he says. The second night of the pull is tonight.
Many barbecue cooks were on the grounds already this morning and are looking forward to the People’s Choice event, reports Wehrbein.
The applications for parade entries are taken through tomorrow so it’s hard to say how many there will be, but Wehrbein is expecting another big parade to wind through the fairgrounds tomorrow evening.
Entry and parking is free for those attending the fair.
