An Omaha firefighter was injured Saturday morning battling a blaze that destroyed what was left of a vacant home near 7th and Fort streets. Arson is suspected.
He suffered a cut on his hand that required several stitches.
Firefighters called to the house just after 4 a.m. found flames shooting from the windows and through holes in the roof.
The structure had been heavily damaged by a previous fire last January 21st. Neighbors said there wasn't much left. Steven Sanders, who called 911 this time, said it was the third fire at the house. He said there was no gas supply to the residence and thieves stole any remaining copper months ago.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Arson Hotline at 402-444-FIRE.
