It's time to celebrate because a local restaurant turns 80 this weekend.
Piccolo Pete's, just off South 20th Street is celebrating 80 years of business in the Omaha metro. A known favorite of Warren Buffett, Piccolo's celebrated with a band and giveaway. We also found more history with one of tonight's dinner guests.
"Well, my great-grand father had emigrated from Denmark and he had a blacksmith's shop which is where the bar is right now. That was his blacksmith shop and he lived in the house next door where my grandmother was born along with her other siblings. And he sold it to Joe Piccolo in 1922,” T.C. Miller said.
And it's been history ever since, the festivities continue Sunday, too.
