The Omaha Police Department is hosting a Citizen Education Training Program starting next month.
The goal is to educate the public on the internal workings of the department. The course, held over six weeks, will cover several topics including street gangs, the K-9 Unit, how homicides are investigated and more.
In the final week, the course will have a question and answer session with Chief of Police Todd Schmaderer, followed by an informal graduation.
There is no charge for the class and all participants must be 18 years of age or older and will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
The class runs October 3rd-November 14th from 6-9 p.m. For more information, contact Bridget Fitzpatrick at 402-444-6478.
