Omaha police are warning the public about an automated phone message scam that is making its way around the metro.
Citizens have reported receiving a message that claims to be from a security company that is working in conjunction with the Omaha Police Department.
It goes on to say that the police department has authorized the security company to install security systems into residences in Omaha for a fee. Officers say the call is a scam. The department is not partnering with or endorsing any security company nor would they ask for money.
Anyone who receives calls like this is reminded to not give out any personal information. Those who do fall victim to this scam or any similar scam can call the police department at 402-444-4877 to file a report.
