Omaha police have made more than half a dozen gun arrests in the last four days. The arrests occurred during four different incidents.
On Thursday, officers were called to 38th and Grand Avenue on a report of an armed party. Police said the officers stopped a maroon Chevy Trailblazer that matched the description of the suspect vehicle; when they approached the car, they saw a gun inside and said the driver resisted arrest. 24-year-old Joshua Pintore was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Transport, Resisting Arrest and Destruction of Property.
Around three p.m. the same day, Gang Unit Officers reported seeing a group of males in Adams Park, at 35th and Bedford. Officers said when they approached, the suspects ran; however, all four were arrested and three handguns found. A 17-year-old male and 18-year-old Earl Strickland were arrested for obstructing. 20-year-old Tavon Spivey and 19-year-old Cureem Mathews were arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing.
Officers also made an arrest Thursday, just after nine p.m., during a traffic stop at Northwest Radial and Hamilton. The driver allegedly told officers he had a gun, which police said was not registered, as well as, a small amount of marijuana. 31-year-old Patrick Fitzgerald was arrested for Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, Less than an Ounce and No Valid Registration (vehicle).
On Sunday, a seventh suspect was arrested during a traffic stop at 37th and Huntington. Officers reported the smell of marijuana and noticed an open container when they approached the vehicle. During their investigation, they located the marijuana and a gun in the car. 24-year-old Elwin Brown was booked for Tampering with Evidence, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Marijuana Less than an Ounce, Open Container, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a traffic offense.
