Police have identified the Omaha man shot to death Sunday morning as 29-year-old Damion Davis.
Officers called to 30th Street near Laurel Avenue just before 6:30 a.m. found Davis dead in the back yard of a home.
“You don't want anybody, whether you know them or don't know them, you don't want anybody to get killed,” said neighbor Charles Brocks. “So it's kind of sad, but in this area, the street, is just one thing after another. It previously happened a few times so you get used to it after it happens so much."
Pastor John Ford said it was a sad distraction as he was getting ready to lead his Sunday congregation. “It's another day in which we have some more crime no matter if it's on Sunday or Monday, we'd like to see this type of situation resolved." He said it's time for this type of crime to stop. “We would like to see something done and how can we help?"
Anyone with information about the murder is urged to contact the OPD Homicide Unit at 402-444-5656 or 402-444-7867.
