Omaha Police Foundation Names "Officer of the Year"

The 14th annual Omaha Police Foundation luncheon was held today at the Scott Conference Center on the UNO campus.

Our John Knicely had the honor of being the emcee for the event again this year.

The foundation named Officer Coral Walker as the 2013 "Officer of the Year."

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said he could easily triple the number of awards given to officer for their work protecting us all.

"I'm very proud of the Omaha Police department," Chief Schmaderer said. "If the public got an opportunity to see what I see on a daily basis, a very professional group, very dedicated, hard working and very productive as well. The Omaha Police department has made huge strides and it's because of the men and women that work there...and this is one opportunity to recognize a few employees that have really stepped up above and beyond."

Seventeen other officers were recognized for their contributions in helping save lives and capture criminals.

Our thanks go out to all of the officers on the department for their efforts.
