Update: Man Behind Threat In Custody

An anonymous threat, targeting Omaha, was posted on the internet Monday night; however, Omaha police say it is not credible and the man behind it is in emergency protective custody.

The threat was posted on a blog-type website called 4Chan and read, "Omaha, NE. Watch the news. 9am. Tomorrow. Big things."

According to the Omaha Police Department, homicide detectives worked through the night to find the person behind the post. Police identify that person as 27-year-old Joshua Gustafson. Officers say Gustafson did not have any means to carry out the threat and after further investigation determined he may be a threat to himself. Gustafson was placed in emergency protective custody for a mental evaluation.

In light of the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, Omaha police say they have made local schools aware of the implied threat. Police say there have been numerous rumors Tuesday regarding schools being locked down or students bringing guns to schools -- none of them are true.

Omaha police say they take each threat seriously and fully investigate. They are asking Omaha residents to be responsible and not post information on Facebook and Twitter unless they have first-hand knowledge of a situation.
