Omaha’s Lanoha Nurseries has donated 200 trees worth $50,000 to city parks.
More than 40 of the Norway Maples, Red Maples and Honeylocust trees will be planted Friday afternoon at Lawrence Youngman Lake at 192nd Street and West Dodge Road.
“This generous donation from the Lanoha family is going to transform one of our newest parks,” said Omaha Parks Director Brook Bench. “Some of the trees donated are already 20 years old and 30 feet tall. Trees this size would have taken years to grow and we are truly grateful for the impact this donation will have on this park and others."
The remaining trees will be planted at Fontenelle Park, Whitehawk Park, Benson Golf Course, Johnny Goodman Golf Course and Seymour Smith Park.
