Omaha North High School students celebrated Friday as their football team prepares to play for a state football championship. The players were honored during a pep rally in the gymnasium.
North hasn’t won a state title in football since 1967. In the crowd was a group of alumni from past North High championship teams. “A win is a win, a win is a win,” said Dick “Dicky” Davis. “If you have been around a win, it's great to have a win even if it's ugly it's great to have a win."
"You mean like the University of Nebraska?” asked Jerry Murtaugh. “A win, it's ugly, but it is a win."
Omaha North will take on Millard North Monday night at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
