An Omaha North High School student was arrested Tuesday for bringing a gun to school.
In an e-mail sent to parents, principal Gene Haynes indicated that as soon as building administrators were made aware of the situation the disassembled gun was confiscated and the student was taken into police custody. The student did not make any threats.
Haynes said students remained safe throughout this situation and that the safety of students, faculty and staff is always a top priority.
Omaha Public School District spokesman Todd Andrews said the student could be expelled under the student code of conduct. "When it comes to firearms it's a no tolerance policy. We take this seriously."
