Omaha police have identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash early Friday morning.
Witnesses say 34-year-old Damon Wiegert was traveling eastbound on West Center Road around 12:15 a.m. when he turned southbound into the northbound lanes of 168th Street. Wiegert sped up and swerved right. He hit the median and lost control.
Wiegert was taken to Creighton University Medical Center. He died a short time later.
Police are investigating whether speed or alcohol were factors in this accident. They said it should be noted that no right turns are allowed onto 168th from Center due to road construction.
Wiegert was wearing a DOT-approved helmet.
