A traffic stop, near 18th and Laird Streets, led to the arrest of a man for kidnapping and domestic violence strangulation.

Officers in the area spotted a silver Mazda speeding and swerving back-and-forth around eight o'clock Sunday evening. Officers also reported seeing the passenger door open and what looked like a man and woman fighting.

As soon as officers stopped the vehicle, 31-year old Carmen Bennett got out and ran to them. She told officers that the driver, 35-year-old Darrow Fowler, got upset with her and began to punch and choke her in the car.

Fowler was booked for kidnapping and domestic violence strangulation, as well as, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
