The Omaha Farmer's Market announced plans of expanding and starting a sister project, an indoor, year round farmer's market.
A contract has been drawn up to buy the old postal annex building at 10th and Pierce, near the new home of the Blue Barn Theater.
Once the deal is finalized, the plan is to likely model the market after the North Market in Columbus, Ohio, according to Heidi Walz with Vic Gutman and Associates.
“Right now we are at the very early stage of the visioning process,” said Walz.
The market would likely have full time vendors likely selling meat, cheeses, wine and other goods.
Walz says hopes are that the new year-round market would open in Spring or Fall of 2017.
The new year-round market would be a sister project to the Omaha Farmer's Market, but will be under different ownership according to Walz.
It will be managed by Vic Gutman and Associates.
