When you think of diversity, does Omaha come to mind? Organizers of Diversity Week have that goal.
The week began Monday night at the Durham Museum.
Dozens of leaders from the metro gathered to embrace our differences. They're also working at attracting and keeping diverse talent when it comes to jobs.
Organizers recognized Elissa Chavez, 14, from Northwest High for her essay and perspective on diversity. "I feel like life is just a crayon box with everybody.. And learning about American history and everything else with the melting pot of different cultures."
There's plenty on tap this week including a diversity health and job fairs and a symposium.
