The National League of Cities selected eleven cities to develop and share ideas to help young black males succeed; Omaha was chosen as one according to a release from the mayor’s office.
Omaha is one of the eleven to receive the Black Male Achievement Technical Assistance Grant. The City of Omaha, the Empowerment Network and more than 40 community partners have created the Omaha African-American Male Achievement Collaboration strategy to connect boys and young men, from kindergarten through high school, with resources and role models in areas identified as priorities; employment, education, housing, faith and family.
A team from the National League of Cities will visit Omaha Thursday through Saturday.
