Seven arrests were made for disorderly conduct when a gathering at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Omaha turned violent early Sunday morning. A crowd had surged past hotel staff monitoring an after-party celebrating Terence Crawford's World Boxing Organization lightweight title fight win at the CenturyLink Center.
The party was already at capacity when the crowd pushed their way inside at 16th and Dodge around 12:40 a.m. Officers responded and attempted to disperse the crowd. Many people refused to comply with the request to leave and fights broke out.
Police from across the metro rushed to the scene, including some officers on horseback. It took about an hour to get everything under control. No serious injuries were reported.
Crawford, an Omaha native, stopped Yuriorkis Gamboa in the ninth round Saturday night to successfully defend his WBO lightweight belt in a match of unbeatens.
