Channel 6 News has learned that one of the officers on paid administrative leave and linked to an investigation that centered on allegations of planting drug evidence is now back on the job.
Officer Steve Kult was the partner of Officer Frank Platt, who was the apparent focus of the internal investigation. Platt retired in August with a disability pension for post-traumatic stress.
A third officer who had been named by the department in May, Kara Hindman, remains on paid administrative leave. She was in the Gang Unit.
OPD says the internal investigation continues. It's not clear why Kult is back to work and Hindman isn't while the case remains open.
