Authorities have identified the man shot in his right thigh while fleeing from an Omaha police officer Wednesday morning.
Police say 24-year-old Ran'dell Busch of Omaha was treated at a hospital, then arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm and a short shotgun, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.
Police say an officer opened fire at 16th and Emmet after a two-block chase. Busch ran when officers were sent to 18th and Emmet just before 3 a.m. to investigate suspicious activity and found several people there.
Four others, 23-year-old Ronald Mitchell, 18-year-old Ricardo Kirk, 20-year-old Chrystol Brye and 25-year-old Porcha Busch, all of Omaha, were arrested on various weapons charges.
The officer, whose name has not been released, is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
