A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until midnight for much of eastern Nebraska, including Omaha.
An Omaha police officer was checked at the Nebraska Medical Center after being involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon.
Officer James Stokes was headed west on L Street just after 1:30 p.m. when witnesses said a northbound car went through a red light at 23rd Street and hit the cruiser’s driver's side door. That driver, 62-year-old Sandra Peralta of Omaha, was cited for not having a driver's license or registration. She was not hurt.
Officer Stokes had some soreness to the left side of his body, but is expected to be okay.
