A man armed with what Omaha police described as an AR-15 rushed into a Taco Bell. Moments later he ran out after dropping the weapon.

The off-duty officer immediately shouted commands to 21-year-old Steven William-Thomas to drop his weapon inside the store at 61st & Ames. Police say William-Thomas dropped the weapon and ran from the store, getting into a gray Toyota-4 Runner.

Police found the vehicle a few blocks away at 62nd and Grand. Able 1 located footprints in the snow near the suspect vehicle, but no suspects were located in the area. Officers eventually located William-Thomas, 24-year-old Eric Williams and 22-year-old Felandis Jefferson at 6411 Park Lane.

William-Thomas was booked for attempted robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony and felon in possession of a weapon. Jefferson and Williams were booked for one count of attempted robbery.
