OPS Welcomes Teachers With Open House

The Omaha Public School District welcomed new faces to the teaching ranks Wednesday.

The forum was an open house that provided resources for recently-hired teachers. Those resources included things ranging from creative bulletin board tips to retirement plans.

Gabrial Olson is one of the new kids on the OPS block and she said, "I had no clue on what to do at all. And just helping from the letters, to insurance to everything. I didn't even know we had more than one IRA plan, or 401K plan. So yeah, helps a lot.

“It's very intimidating and very overwhelming because you don't know what you're getting yourself into. So it kinda just helps."

Gabrial will be teaching second grade at Central Park.

Nearly 100 new teachers attended the open house.
