OPD Picking Up Murder Investigation

The Omaha Police Homicide unit is picking-up the investigation of Delbert Freemont’s death. Authorities say he was apparently killed in Omaha’s jurisdiction.

The body of the 52-year-old man was found in a Washington County ravine, just north of the Douglas County border, on December 9.

Washington County was investigating the death as a homicide and on Tuesday, December 17, that investigation led to Freemont’s Omaha residence at 39th and Burdette. Then came word that Freemont was likely killed in Omaha.

A search of the Nebraska Department of Corrections website shows Freemont has served time three different times since the 1980s for arson, felony DUI - third offense, and domestic violence. He was supposed to be on parole for the domestic violence conviction until March 2013.
