The heat and lack of air conditioning at Boys Town National Research Hospital caused staff to shut down the building. According to a spokesperson, the broken AC is blamed on a steam valve that broke over the weekend.
A spokesperson says a steam valve broke underneath Burt Street over the weekend, and when it was fixed and turned back on, it blew a valve for the hospital.
Surgery patients were rescheduled or switched to the west hospital.
A spokesperson tells WOWT 6 News there was little inconvenience or interruption caused by the closing on Monday, since Boys Town Research Hospital is an outpatient hospital.
Doctors and staff spent the day at other clinics in the Boys Town health system.
No word on when the air conditioning will be fixed, but Boys Town staff will handle appointment changes with patients directly.
