Boys Town school held classes on Thursday despite the storm. Snow days are an almost unheard of event at Boys Town Schools. Because all the students live on the Boys Town campus keeping school open during a storm is less of a challenge.
Dr Bob Gehringer is Superintendent of schools and principal at the Boys Town High School and he says "in seventeen years I've been at Boys Town we've only closed school once and that was because we only had twenty teachers who could make it, the rest were stuck in the side streets"
The no snow days policy gets mixed reviews from students. Anthony Cornelius says "It's a pro and a con, we do learn but what kid doesn't want to be at home and not at school"
Constance Hayden says "it would be nice to have a snow day but at Boys Town it's like unheard of so we're learning"
In all there about four hundred students at Boys Town.
