Nikko Jenkins is no longer in Omaha. WOWT 6 News has learned that deputies transferred him to Lincoln late last week.
Jenkins -- a convicted spree killer -- will be treated for his mental illness by doctors at the Lincoln Regional Center in order to restore competency for sentencing.
As part of Judge Peter Bataillon's order, the Regional Center is in charge of the case, but Jenkins will stay at either the Lincoln Correctional Center or the Diagnostics and Evaluation Center. The two facilities are adjacent to each other and have better security than the Regional Center.
Doctors have not said how long it will take to restore Jenkins' competency.
He faces either life in prison or death when he is eventually sentenced by a three-judge panel.
