You might notice that China and Gina, two sea lions at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo, have a little extra kick in their waddle these days. They are parents of a new sea lion pup.
However, the pup does not have a name yet. The general public has a chance to come up with the name.
The gender of the pup, which was born June 3, is not known at this time.
It weight about 14.5 pounds at birth.
The pup is now on display at Owen’s Sea Lion Pavilion. Name submissions will be accepted there through Sunday June 17. A panel of zookeepers who care for the sea lions will choose the name. The winning name will be announced July 10.
The person who submits the winning name will receive a unique zoo & aquarium gift bag. The winner will also have an opportunity to interact with the sea lions with a zookeeper during a regular training session.
If the winning name has multiple entries, a random drawing will determine the winner.
